Best Free Card Games for Seniors: Play Online
Card games suit a quiet afternoon. The rules are familiar, and a game of Solitaire plays the same as it did fifty years ago. You can play all of these classics free online in your web browser, with no download and no sign-up.
Here are my favourite free card games for older players, each with big, clear cards and simple tap-or-click controls (no dragging).
1. Klondike Solitaire
This is the Solitaire most people picture, the one that came with every computer for years. You build the four foundation piles up from Ace to King, moving cards in alternating colours. It is a game of patience.
Play the free Klondike Solitaire: extra-large cards, click-to-move, an always-on Hint, unlimited Undo, and an Auto-finish button for the end of the game.
2. Spider Solitaire
Spider is a Solitaire for when you want a little more of a challenge. You build long runs of cards down from King to Ace and clear them from the board. Beginners can start with the one-suit game to learn the rules, then move up to two or four suits.
Try Spider Solitaire with three difficulty levels.
3. FreeCell
In FreeCell every card is visible from the start, and you have four free cells to hold cards while you plan. Because nothing is hidden, almost every game can be won with careful play, so it rewards patience over luck.
Play FreeCell free online, no download needed.
4. Hearts
If you would rather play against others, Hearts is a friendly four-player game. You try to avoid winning tricks that contain hearts or the Queen of Spades. In my version you play against three computer opponents, so there is always a game ready when you are.
Deal a hand of Hearts whenever you like.
