Free Card Games for Adults: Play Online, No Download

Card games have familiar rules, a little skill and a little luck. The trouble is finding somewhere to play them that does not ask you to install an app, create an account or put up with pop-ups over the cards.

Here are six free card games you can play in your browser. Every one uses big, clear cards and plays with a tap or click, with no dragging. None needs a download or a sign-up.

1. Klondike Solitaire

The classic. Build four suit piles from Ace to King, moving cards in alternating red and black. My Klondike Solitaire adds an always-on Hint, unlimited Undo, an Auto-finish button and a Bigger cards option for extra-large cards.

2. FreeCell

Every card is dealt face up, so nothing is hidden and nearly every game can be won. FreeCell is planning rather than luck.

3. Spider Solitaire

Build full runs from King down to Ace to clear them from the board. Spider starts with one suit, which is the easy version, and goes up to two and four suits.

4. Pyramid

Clear the pyramid by pairing exposed cards that add up to 13 (Kings go on their own). Pyramid is quick, and you can redeal as often as you like.

5. TriPeaks

Tap any card one higher or one lower than the card on the pile. That is the whole rule, which makes TriPeaks the easiest game here.

6. Hearts

The classic trick-taking game: dodge the hearts, and above all dodge the Queen of Spades. In Hearts you play against three computer opponents, so a game is ready whenever you are.

What adult-friendly means here

There are no countdowns, so you can take as long as you like over a move. Nothing asks for an account or an email address.
