Free Games Like AARP's, With No Account Needed
A lot of people arrive here after searching for AARP’s games page, so it is worth being straightforward about what is the same and what is not.
AARP runs a large free games site. At the time of writing it also has a members-only category of games, and it invites you to register an account so it can save your progress and award rewards points. None of that is a criticism. It is a different arrangement from this site’s, and if you have run into a login screen or a members-only badge, that arrangement is probably why you are reading this.
What is different here
There is no account, not even an optional one to save your progress. There is nothing to sign up for, so there is no password to reset and no email address to hand over.
There is no members-only section. Every game on the site is open to everyone who can reach the page. There is no tier, no upgrade prompt, and nothing held back.
Nothing is timed and nothing is scored against anyone else. There are no leaderboards, points or streaks.
Progress on a half finished puzzle is still remembered, but it is stored in your own browser on your own device rather than in an account. That is why a Daily Sudoku picks up where you left it, and also why it will not follow you to a different computer.
The same games you were looking for
If you came for a particular game, it is almost certainly here:
- Solitaire. Klondike, Spider, FreeCell, Pyramid, TriPeaks and Golf, all on the card games page.
- Mahjongg. Mahjong Solitaire with large tiles and unlimited hints.
- Sudoku. Large-print Sudoku, plus a fresh Daily Sudoku each morning.
- Crosswords and word games. A Mini Crossword with everyday clues, Word Search, Word Scramble and Hangman.
- Trivia. Ten questions a round on classic films, golden oldies, nature, food and general knowledge.
- Board games. Checkers, Dominoes, Four in a Row and Backgammon against the computer.
- Bingo. Big numbers, called at your own pace.
How it is paid for
Nothing here is funded by a membership. The site is small, the games are either written by me or open-source copies I host myself, and the running costs are modest. If advertising is ever added, the promise page sets out the limits I have committed to: never over the board, never between you and a move, and never a pop-up.
What this site does not have
This site is not a membership organisation and does not publish a magazine. There are no rewards points. If you want to open a browser and be playing Solitaire eight seconds later, it is the place.
Browse all the games, or go straight to Solitaire.
